On behalf of The Tech Museum, it is my pleasure to notify you that WAND has been selected for recognition as a laureate by The Tech Awards in the Environment category. This is a tremendous honor, and we celebrate your accomplishment.
Our panel of judges, assembled by the Center for Science, Technology, and Society at Santa Clara University, carefully reviewed applications from around the world and chose just 3 laureates in 5 fields. You represent the best technologists whose innovations benefit humanity, and we welcome you into our community of 245 laureates.
It is mandatory that all laureates be available to travel to San Jose, California, USA for The Tech Awards Week of activities, including the beautiful formal gala event taking place the night of Thursday, October 20. The Tech Awards will sponsor one roundtrip ticket, one hotel room, a daily per diem of $60, and many of your meals while you are here. You must arrive by Saturday, October 15, as activities begin Sunday, October 16 and continue through Thursday, October 20. Additional people may be invited at your own expense and travel arrangements can be made using our corporate travel agency for $35 per roundtrip ticket. You will be given 2 complimentary gala tickets in addition to the one you receive as a laureate. You will receive information about ordering more in a subsequent email.
Besides having selected all 15 laureates in the 5 categories of the program, The Tech Awards judges have also selected the 5 laureates (1 from each category) who will receive a $50,000 cash prize on October 20. These cash prize recipients will be revealed at the gala. While not all laureates will receive the cash prize, all 15 laureates will be honored during The Awards Week and will receive an award trophy at the gala. With workshop sessions, meetings with sponsors and other technology industry luminaries, media coverage, speaking opportunities, and more, all 15 laureates benefit greatly from being part of The Tech Awards.
